While defending the Forgeworld Draconis against a Chaos incursion, the 4th Company of the Imperial Dragons Space Marine Chapter was despatched to remove the traitor occupation on an orbiting shipyard around the planet's 5th moon.

It is unknown whether the subsequent implosion of the Warp Drive facility was an accident, or deliberate sabotage on the part of the Traitors, but the facility, and all aboard, were presumably pulled into the resultant temporary rift into Warp Space.

In recent years, reports have begun to filter in to the Administratum of a mysterious force of Space Marines who appear seemingly from nowhere in the midst of battles in systems nearby to Draconis, and who disappear just as mysteriously afterwards. Their armour glows with an opalescent, otherworldly sheen, and their chapter heraldry has been covered with a fanged skull symbol.

Although the Inquisition has certain suspicions, they have with-held any action until this ethereal force can be investigated more thoroughly.

This was the first army I ever put together, back in 2nd edition. Most of these models (and the resultant shoddy paintjobs) are more than 10 years old, and come from a time when I was far too poor to afford all the goodies I really wanted for them... which led to some creative modelling.

HQ

Brother-Captain Daffyd

This model was one of my first major conversions. The torso is from an old plastic Scout Sergeant, and the legs from a Space Crusade Sergeant.

Librarian Rhodrys

A Space Crusade Sergeant painted blue.

Elites

Ragnarok and Shadowbane

Two cardboard Dreadnoughts, built one afternoon when I had nothing better to do. For third edition I had to change Shadowbane's weapon configuration a little, so replaced his left-hand 'Plasma Cannon' with a Missile Launcher from the current plastic Dreadnought kit.

Troops

Squad 2

Imperial Dragons Tactical Squads are denoted by their green helmets. Lost Company squad numbers are on their right shoulder pad, while the right kneepad bears the company number and combat squad colour.

Squad 3

Imperial Dragons Tactical Squads are denoted by their green helmets. Lost Company squad numbers are on their right shoulder pad, while the right kneepad bears the company number and combat squad colour.

Rhino Transport

Built the same afternoon as the Dreadnoughts. It came out rather large, as at that point the only Rhinos I had seen were pictures in an old Rogue Trader book. I got the dimensions by estimating against the marines pictured with the Rhinos, without being aware that the Rogue Trader Marines were quite a bit smaller than the 2nd Ed ones.

Fast Attack

Squad 9

Imperial Dragons Assault Squads are denoted by their black helmets. These are slightly modified Space Crusade minis.
