I like Dreadnoughts. It makes happy happen in my head that I get to work on another one Smile

I'm taking this:

...and (hopefully) turning it into something that looks vaguely like this:

First up, the legs...

They needed to be more streamlined, and his hips needed some narrowing. So, I sliced off the external cabling and hydraulics, severed the legs at the hips and knees, and wound up with this:

Next step will be to narrow down the thighs, smooth off the tops of the hips, and give him new shins under those armour pads.

I think it is a twin-linked Heavy Bolter.

But, it won't be getting one of those, or so I hear!

Sure!

My sources ( Shocked ) tell me for the right arm:

Twin-Linked Autocannon
Twin-Linked Lascannon
Twin-Linked Heavy Flamer
Assault Cannon

and a Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon w/ Heavy Flamer for the left arm...

The dread in the artwork does indeed (or at least, most probably) have a twin autocannon. I don't think it's 'sawn-off' so much as simply shortened by the perspective.

The picture's just a base, though. The client has specifically asked for different weapons, and there's a couple other small changes that will be needed, like adding a heavy flamer to the close combat weapon arm, and Chapter iconography.

You know what?

The more I look at it, the more I'm convinced that you're both right, it IS a twin-linked auto-cannon in that picture...

Maybe I was thinking of this picture:

?

Either way, no twin-linked heavy bolter for him!

Well, that's a Pre-Heresy Dreadnought for you!

I'm pretty sure that the final size (and a comparison shot with a marine or guardsman!) will help you out too!

So, some progress...

Started trimming the thighs down:

Then hacked the old hip joints and front armour off the waist piece:

Added a new hip shaft:

And busted out the ProCreate to fashion a new groin plate:

Took the torso sections and trimmed them down a little:

...so that when fitted together, they look something like this:

Then started adding the basic framework for the new torso plating:

Padded out the thighs a little more:

Aded some more detail on the hip joints:

And padded out the torso a little, ready for the top layer of putty:
